A Note from Alli & Gary

Gary & I have put a lot material in this quilt to help make up for people that did not send fabric or wishes. We still have others to do and will be sending out reminders for the last time before we start the quilt. If you wish to participate still or would like to be a part of this for the first time for our daughter please send a piece of fabric and a wish to us as soon as possible. We would like as many people as possible.

Love to all,
~Alli & Gary

I came across this poem and the material is actually left over from the diaper bag that my sister in law Liz made for us for Christmas last year. Again, ladybugs, and butterflies, and caterpillars. All things that will in her room when we get it done. Know you were thought of a long time before you came to be part of our family.

Lucky Bamboo. We also found this material in Indiana at one of our favorite shops. Bamboo signifies, luck and prosperity. We wish Avery much luck in her life, and prosperity. May she grow to be strong and resilient the same as bamboo.

I love this page!! Ladybugs are a big part of our lives now. Ladybugs are good luck in China adoptions. Oh, do we need all the luck we can get. I love that little poem too!! There are so many different ladybug patterns for material. Wish us Good Luck, and we wish that Avery has the luckiest and most gratifying life possible.

Of course we hope she dances. WE have always wanted to have a little ballerina of our own. I teach little ones all the time and can't wait to have a little one running and frolicking at home. I'm sure there will be a lot of dancing in our household...even more than there is now!!

Wish #74 from Mommy & Daddy

I found this material in Shipshewana Indiana last Easter when we were visiting my brother Tom and his family. I love it when we can find material that has Asian influences on it. There are fortunes on the page that are our wishes for her. I love the one that reads, "You are always on our minds". So true!!!

Wish #73 from the cats...again!

The cats were adamant they have another page. I just found such cute cat material. Anyone who has been in our house knows I love cats!! They will cuddle and play with Avery and be her bestest pals!!

Wish # 72 from Us-Mommy & Daddy

We have put a lot of our own fabric into Avery's quilt. Some of the fabric we've picked up on some of our trips. This page I did when Gary & I went to Boston. Gary had a class he was taking and I just went along. I took some scrapbooking stuff and picked up some new stuff while there. Lanterns are such a big part of Chinese culture. Red lanterns and other types are always hanging meaning good fortune and luck. So here is our lantern page. Enjoy!

Wish # 71 from our cats

Skimbleshanks, Jezebelle, Homer, and Koko are our 4 cats. They each have their own personalities and are a big part of our lives and family. Of course they have a wish and are part of the quilt. We can see Avery following them around the house or vice versa.

Wish # 70 about Great Grandma Bessie Scofield

I put this square and wish in Avery's scrapbook because I wanted my Grandma Scofield, who is no longer with us to be part of her quilt. The material is from one of her shirts, and will be put in the quilt. It is too bad that Avery will not be able to meet and be around Grandma Scofield. Grandma used to take me shopping, and I used to spend the night at her house. She was always at the farm with Grandpa Scofield (who's square I'm still working on). She made the best goulash and awesome chicken and biscuits and gravy. I miss her a lot and feel sad that she will not hold Avery. But I'm sure she's looking down and is proud of Gary and myself. We will tell Avery about her and show her pictures, she will be a part of Avery's life. God Bless you Grandma!!

I have also put a little envelope on this page that has a special note for Avery to open when she is older that tells more about Grandma Scofield. It is sad that she won't meet my Grandma or Grandpa Scofield. Or even my Grandpa Creighton...he died many many years ago. But we will remember them, and introduce them all to her through this quilt so that Avery will know them all through her scrapbook, and pictures, and our memories. We 're doing the same with Gary side of the family.

Wish #69 from Wendy Curtis

This wish is from Wendy Curtis. Wendy is one of Alli's students from a long time ago. Wendy is also a good friend. We don't stay in contact very often, she lives out of state, but we wish her and her family much happiness. Thank you for the baby blanket, can't wait to wrap Avery up in it!

Wish # 68 from The Remington Boys

This wish is from Aunt Cathy's & Uncle Glen's boys. The Remington boys. Obviously you can see they are Yankees fans. I'm sure Gary's Uncle Tom will have something to say about that (he's a Red Sox fan-die hard!!). At least Avery's quilt will represent both sides. Thank you to the boys for adding to her quilt. Can't wait for you to meet her!

Wish # 67 from Hayley Sischo

Hayley did a second square and a second wish. We love that she did this. We love Hayley a lot!!! She's always been around and is such a great person and part of the family. Congratulations to her and Dan on their engagement! Doesn't seem like it's time for you to get married, only yesterday you were our junior bridesmaid. Thank you and Avery will be so lucky to know you.

Wish #66 from Ellen Scherer

Ellen is one of Alli's dancers and assistants. All of the girls and students at the studio are so supportive of us and the frustrating adoption process. It is nice to have such support within our students. Ellen is a senior this year and wants to pursue dance. She is a very talented individual and we can't wait for her to meet Avery!

Wish # 65 from Adrienne & Lori Cean

Adrienne is one of Alli's dancers, and Lori is her Mom. Thank you for the beautiful scrapbook page, and wish! We went to NYC a few years ago with Adrienne and Lori and had a great time. Lori makes the best punch bowl cake!!! Adrienne is one of Alli's dancers that was with her for a long time, and she still comes back to the shows and visits. Thank you, and keep coming back to visit so you can meet Avery!!

Wish #64 from Aunt Dottie & Uncle Leslie

Thank you to Aunt Dottie and Uncle Leslie for their addition to Avery's quilt. Aunt Dottie is a fantastic cook, and Uncle Leslie is always fixing things and is very handy. I remember when I was younger going to their house on Christmas Eve for a lot of food and family. Memories!! We can't wait for you to meet Avery!!! Thank you.

Wish #63 from Bill McCurdy

This is a wish from one of our friends. Bill has been living in Munich, Germany for the past 2 years on an assignment with Knorr Bremse, New York Air Brake's parent company (Gary and Bill both work at the Air Brake). He tried to send the quilt square I think 2 times before we actually received it. The good old mail!!! Bill is a good friend and was in our wedding. He is actually coming home to stay in a few months. Can't wait to see you Bill, and catch up. Thank you so much for doing a square and wish!!
